$300 million over 6 rounds will be given out to challenge winners. Each round has 3 stages, the initial entry, shortlist, and finalists. Those submissions who make the shortlist are given a smaller sum of money (In round 1 it was $200,000 and in round 2 it was $75,000). While those who make the final stage are given a share of the $22.5 million dollars awarded each round to finalists. The six rounds include: Data Driven, Getting Started, Northern Access, Building for the Future, Scaling Solutions, and Public Perception of New Development.

  • $4.8 million over 5 years to support research and related activities that look at:

    • long-term health, socio-economic, and climate change outcomes of investment in affordable housing.

    • connections between housing, health, socio-economic, and environmental factors as it pertains to households and communities

  • The first year there is $410,000, while the next 4 years there is $1.1 million available.​

  • The Criteria to win a portion of this grant money looks at:

    • The challenge (40%), feasibility (30%), and capability (30%)

  • $550.8 million over 6 years for unique ideas and approaches that will evolve and disrupt Canada's affordable housing sector.

  • Each project must demonstrate how they are Innovative and affects affordability by meeting certain criteria put fourth on the CMHC website.

  • Other Criteria include: Financial Sustainability and Knowledge Transfer.

  • Innovation is broken down into three categories (which are defined on the CMHC Website): 

    • Transformational, Breakthrough, and Incremental​

  • $750,000 annually for not-for-profit organizations, registered charities, indigenous partners to advance housing research.

  • Funds are split up into 4 different sections: 

    • Individual research projects, programs of research, planning activities, and knowledge mobilization projects.

  • CMHC will contribute up to 75% of the projects total costs.​

  • The CMHC has committed approximately $7.9 million bringing the total amount of funding to $13.9 million over the 5 years of the initiative. 

  • The Collaborative Housing Research Network provides objective, recognized, and high-quality research that can support housing policy decision-making and inform future program development.

  • It is made up of 6 research teams: Knowledge Mobilization HUB, Aging in the Right Place, At home in the Right Place, Balanced Supply of Housing Node, and People, Places, Policies, and Prospects.

Recognizing that housing affordability is vital to sustainable communities, the Housing Hub of New Brunswick (HHNB) partners to drive housing development across all of New Brunswick. Through a disciplined approach and a focus on execution, the HHNB combines relevant stakeholder resources, connections, and experience to expand development of housing projects that are diverse, inclusive, and sustainable.
